Primary Competitions
Kangaroo Math Competition
Kangaroo Math Competition is currently the world’s largest math competition with more than 4 million participants from 96 countries in 2023. In Kangaroo Math 2023, there were more than 47,000 participants representing over 1,404 schools from all over Malaysia.
Beaver Computational Thinking Competition
Beaver Computational Thinking Competition is an online-based competition that is part of the International Bebras effort. Bebras aims to promote interest in Information Technology, Informatics and Computational Thinking among students. As of 2023, nearly 2.8 million participants from more than 60 countries have participated in Beaver worldwide with 5,000 of them registered as participants from Malaysia.
Kancil Science Competition
Kancil Science Competition is an annual competition for primary, secondary and pre-university students that aims to challenge students’ science knowledge through critical thinking, problem-solving, and general scientific knowledge. 56,000+ students from 3000+ schools have participated in this competition since 2018. In Kancil 2023, there were more than 20,000 participants representing over 995 schools from all over Malaysia.
Kijang Economics Competition
Kijang Economics Competition is an online-based national economics competition for lower secondary level, upper secondary level and pre-university students which aims to challenge students’ economics, entrepreneurship, financial literacy and business knowledge.
Kijang Econokids Competition
Kijang Econokids Competition is an online national competition for primary school students related to financial mathematics syllabus which aims to challenge students’ knowledge through basic financial literacy, mathematics, basic economics and basic business management.
Explorer Competitions
Galaxy Explorer Competition
Galaxy Explorer Competition is an annual, online national school-level competition that introduces general knowledge about the study of everything in the universe that is beyond the Earth’s atmosphere (example: solar system, planets). The aim of this competition is to instill interest and to give exposure to students in this field.
Language Explorer Competition
Language Explorer Competition is an annual, online national school-level competition that introduces language and linguistics knowledge to primary school, secondary school and pre-university students in Malaysia. This competition aims to introduce the world of Language and Computational Linguistics as early as possible to the younger generations.
Earth Explorer Competition
Earth Explorer Competition is an annual, online national school-level competition that introduces general knowledge about the study of earth and neighboring planets in space.
Biology Explorer Competition
Biology Explorer Competition (BEC) is an annual online national school-level competition that introduces general knowledge about biology and life sciences. This competition’s focus on students from Standard 4 up to Standard 6 (primary school) and Form 1 up to Form 5 (secondary school). The aim of this competition is to encourage students’ interest and give exposure to students about biology and life sciences.
Olympiads
Malaysian Earth Science Olympiad (MyESO)
MyESO is an annual national competition that introduces the sciences of the earth systems (biosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, and geosphere). Two teams that consist of four students each will be selected to represent Malaysia to the International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO) and International Geography Olympiad (iGeo) respectively.
MyCLO is the first national competition on linguistics in Malaysia with problems in the form of linguistic puzzles which tests problem-solving abilities and pattern recognition. Four winners will be selected to represent Malaysia in the International Linguistics Olympiad (IOL).
MyJSO is an annual national level competition which involves Biology, Chemistry and Physics for students aged 13 to 15 years old. It aims to select six best contestants to represent Malaysia in the International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO).
MyAO is an annual national level competition in Astronomy for secondary school students. It was held for the first time in 2018 and aims to select the best six contestants to represent Malaysia in the International Astronomy Olympiad (IAO).
MyEO is an annual national level competition in Economics for secondary school students. It was held for the first time in 2019 and aims to select the best five contestants to represent Malaysia in the International Economics Olympiad (IEO).
Malaysian Biology Olympiad (MyBO)
Malaysian Biology Olympiad (MyBO) is an annual competition conducted centrally. Students who get the highest marks in the BEC competition will be invited to attend the MyBO competition day. MyBO is conducted to qualify 10 – 15 students to participate National Training Camp and then select the best 4 students to represent Malaysia in the International Biology Olympiad (IBO).
Malaysian Geography Olympiad (MyGEO)
Malaysian Geography Olympiad (MyGEO) is indeed an annual national competition in Malaysia, specifically tailored for secondary school and pre-university students. The primary aim of MyGEO is to provide a platform for students to showcase and enhance their knowledge in geography. The competition serves as a means to identify and assess the top-performing students in the field, ultimately selecting the top four participants who will go on to represent Malaysia in the International Geography Olympiad (iGeo).
